Preparing for your appointment

Bruising is totally normal with injectable treatments, but here are a few tips to keep it minimal so you can enjoy those results sooner:

✅ Avoid Blood Thinners

Skip aspirin, ibuprofen, and supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, and garlic 3-7 days before your appointment (unless prescribed).

💧 Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin healthy and your body prepped.

🧊 Apply Ice After Treatment

Gently ice the area to reduce swelling and minimize bruising.

🚫 No Alcohol 24 Hours Before

Alcohol can thin the blood, so hold off on that pre-appointment glass of wine.

🕰 Take It Easy After

Skip intense workouts for at least 24 hours. Increased blood flow can worsen bruising.

🌿 Consider Arnica

Arnica gel or tablets can help speed up bruise healing naturally.

These little tweaks can make a BIG difference. Always consult your injector for personalized advice!

• Avoid direct sun exposure to the treatment site for 4 weeks 
• Avoid use of sunless tanning products for 4 weeks
• Discontinue active products such as retinol or hydroquinone for 7 days for facial treatments
• Do not wax, tweeze or use hair removal creams for 6 weeks 
• Shave the area the night before treatment
• Alert your provider of any medications you are currently taking, as some medications may affect the outcome of your treatment
• White, gray, red and blonde hair is low in melanin, rendering laser ineffective
• Treatments every 4-6 weeks for face, and every 6-8 weeks for body

Post Treatment 

• No tight clothing or sweating for 48 hours 
• No hot tubs, swimming pools or saunas for 48 hours 
• Avoid irritating products for 48 hours
• Avoid sun exposure on the treated area for 7-10 days

• Active Implanted devices (pacemaker, urethral stimulaton or internal defibrillator)
• Varicose veins in desired treatment area
• Thrombophlebitis
• Active Cancer or Cancer treatments in the past five years (unless doctor's clearance is received)
• Current Outbreak of Hives
• Active Herpes
• Glandular swelling
• Vitiligo
• Lupus
• Accutane
• Skin diseases 
• Surgery in the treatment area in the last three months
• Fillers received within the last 4 weeks in the desired treatment area
• Botox within the past two weeks in the desired treatment area
• Open lesions in desired treatment area
• Implant contraceptive (Nexplanon) if treating the arms
• PDO Threads in the treatment area within the last 4 months

For 5-7 days prior to your visit, discontinue retinols and active products. If you have had any skin resurfacing treatments recently, let us know what and when. (You can reply to this message.) 

If possible, please arrive make up free the day of your treatment.

• Discontinue medications or supplements that may thin your blood one week prior to vein treatments to minimize bruising and improve the success of your treatment. This includes fish oil, flax seed oil, Vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve), and red wine. 
• If taking aspirin and not on the advice of a physician, stop 48 hours before treatment. Do not stop if prescribed or recommended by your physician.
• Bring a pair of shorts to wear during your treatment if you are having your legs treated, and compression hose to wear home.
• If facial veins are being treated, there may be minor bruising and or swelling, which can typically be covered with make up, but plan at least a week for healing time.
• Leg veins may show minor bruising, discoloration, and welting. Larger leg veins may appear bruised for a longer period of time. Full results may take weeks or months to be realized. The best time to treat leg veins are in the fall and winter. 
• Plan treatments allowing for NO: sun exposure, vigorous activity or use of hot tubs, saunas or spas for 48 hours after treatment.
